Animal Visitors

"Lest It Be Forgotten", or, in this case, never known.

This was a busy week for animals at Mixson Manor, NJ. We had
our normal contingent of turkeys, deer and a few zillion birds,
particularly humming birds and wrens.
Then, about mid-week as we were sitting on the deck a black
bear ran across the back of the property, disappearing into the
woods next door. A while later, as we were watching 8-9 turkeys
feeding, two coyotes ran through the same area. I figured the turkeys
were goners as they seemed oblivious to the coyotes. Must have
been their lucky day, though. (All this in broad daylight!)
On Thursday evening a pit bull showed up and made herself at
home...she just walked right in, wagging her tail, and joined Lori
and Stephanie on the couch. We're now looking for her owner
but fear she was dumped. Another mouth to feed.
Last night, we had a bear visit. One bird feeder destroyed and
three knocked down. The iron rod holding a couple of them looks
a bit like a pretzel. The bear must have visited in the early AM, as
there were still bear tracks in the front yard grass when I went out.
Not many dull moments around our house!
